I'm new to HSBC and so far...
In terms of managing expectations, I don't think banks or any other large businesses are my "friends," so don't expect them to "care" no matter what their advertising says. Having said that...
For the few times I've been to this branch, it seems like your average BMO, TD, etc. branch. Their fees are also comparable to other banks. Their online banking is not nearly as user friendly as other banks though - definitely needs improvement. Their reception is not friendly per se, but polite.
So why the 5 stars and not 3 stars (or maybe 2)?
One person made up the difference. Kevin Chen was approachable to the point of friendly and competent to the point of trustworthy. He made sure that he kept me informed and up-to-date with my transactions. He let me know right away if there was even a possibility of a delay or issue, but made sure everything went smoothly. To add icing to the cake - he valued my time! I don't know about HSBC, but I definitely recommend Kevin.
