Robert T. "R. T." Jones (1910 - 1999) independently identified the benefits of swept-back wings for high-speed aircraft, regarded as one of the most important discoveries in the history of aerodynamics. He also contributed many other concepts, including aircraft-piloting control schemes for improved safety, and radical oblique-wing configurations.
1718-2 Oct. 1766. Jr. Jones, Robert ("Robin"), attorney general of North Carolina, legislator, and agent of Earl Granville, was born in Surry County, Va., the son of Robert Jones, who practiced law in Surry County and served in the House of Burgesses. Educated at Eton, Robin Jones returned to Virginia where he also practiced law in Surry County.
Robert's wife is Maneesha Jones. Robert's son Cayleb is a wide receiver in the NFL for the Minnesota Vikings. Robert's second son Zay was a wide receiver at East Carolina University and the all-time receptions leader (399) in the history of college football. Zay was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
